Survey: Italian cheeses in France

It’s no secret, the French love Italian cuisine. They love the good little Italian dishes and its well-known cheeses. And for good reason, Parmegiano Reggiano DOP, Gorgonzola DOP and Mozzarella di buffala campana DOP are the 3 best-selling Italian cheeses in France (survey Cheese Fair - 2021).

According to the study carried out from 17th to 26th November 2021 by the Cheese and Dairy Products Show (results based on 126 respondents : dairy-cheese makers and specialized retail stores), Italian cheeses are very popular across the country : France is the main destination of Italian cheese exports with a production that totals 1 million in 2020.

According to the statistics of the ICE (Italian Agency for Foreign Trade), Italy is the first country to import cheese into France before the Netherlands and Germany, with 82,699 tons, or some 472 million euros of imported cheese.

From February 27 to March 02, 2022 the Cheese and Dairy Products Show will highlight Italian cheeses and dairy products through numerous exhibitors. For 4 days, visitors will be able to meet many producers, among them : Luigi Guffanti, Valsana, Busti Formaggi and the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium.
